Paving is now underway on this stretch of the Point Defiance Loop Trail in front of the Rhododendron Garden. This section runs from the intersection of Animal Loop Road and Five Mile Drive to the Owen Beach pedestrian cutoff. This section of trail will also include landscape buffers between the road and the trail to help protect pedestrians and cyclists from vehicle traffic. When finished, this project will provide a much safer and more enjoyable way to navigate this part of the park on foot or
