CHARLESTON, S.C. (WCBD) – Much of the Lowcountry woke up Sunday to a rare sight: snow on the ground and bitterly cold temperatures. The National Weather Service in Charleston reported some of the morning’s lowest wind chills at five degrees in both Charleston and Fort Sumter,
Before this weekend, the last time the Tampa Bay area saw snow flurries was Jan. 9, 2010.

Some could count the flakes whizzing by. Others enjoyed a frenzy of flurries and whipped out their cameras to catch the Sunshine State unicorn.

Snow flurries in Florida amid arctic freeze: photos and videos
For the second year in a row – and the second time this year – snowflakes fell in Florida.

Impacts from the snow are lightening up as the sun begins to melt away some of the thickness. Some people in North Carolina have never seen this type of snow before, so some sent in photos of themselves reveling in it.
