Roblox is starting to roll out the mandatory age checks that will require all of its users to submit an ID or scan their face in order to access the platform's chat features.

Roblox is now requiring selfies, verified either with a government ID or through an AI review, to use its chat functions.

Popular social game platform Roblox has begun its voluntary age checks for players using in-game chat features. The change brings age-based communications to the platform, allowing players to communicate only with users within their age group.

It comes at a time when the online gaming giant faces several lawsuits and growing calls to be included in Australia’s social media ban.

Texas AG Ken Paxton has filed suit against Roblox, claiming the company is putting “pixel pedophiles and profits" over the safety of Texas children. Roblox says it has introduced over 145 safety measures this year alone.
